Why Choose Wilmington Pediatric Dentistry
What makes us different? Well, everything! From our deep and longstanding history rooted in our Wilmington community to our commitment to delivering truly exceptional pediatric dental care, we want to help this generation and future generations of children love going to the dentist. Here’s how we uphold our philosophy of preventing dental disease through education and early treatment while nurturing happy patients:
Independently Owned
We are proud to be independently owned and operated for over 28 years! In 1997, Dr. Skip and his wife, Susan, first opened our doors, and we have been having fun ever since. Dr. Steph joined the practice in 2004, followed by Dr. Katie in 2020, helping continue the tradition of compassionate, family-centered care. Together, our dentists and team are committed to treating every patient like family while serving our community with smiles.
Fun, Kid-Friendly Atmosphere
At Wilmington Pediatric Dentistry, we want our patients to have as much fun as we do. We strive to create not only a fun and kid-friendly atmosphere, but a comfortable one, as well, so your child can enjoy your time with us. We even have a Teen Zone where your teen can play video games and more!
Conservative Approach
At Wilmington Pediatric Dentistry, we prioritize a conservative approach toward treatment. This means that we will happily answer any treatment questions you have and help your child avoid unnecessary treatment while providing your child with comprehensive dental care.
Comfort Focused
We will always strive to make your child feel as comfortable as possible under our care. From our clubhouse in the waiting room and our open bay concept in the treatment area to our video games in our treatment rooms, we have always tried to make a visit to the dentist as fun as possible. However, we understand that some children have different needs than others. We offer sedation, as well as general anesthesia, for children with dental anxiety and children with special needs and more to help them feel at ease.

Our Board Certified Pediatric Dentists
When you visit Wilmington Pediatric Dentistry, you can expect the highest-quality pediatric dental care. Our dentists are board certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, meaning that they have passed the rigorous requirements to be excellent pediatric dentists. Not all pediatric dentists receive this recognition, which means that they stand out for their specialized knowledge and clinical, professional and communication skills.
Why Is Maintaining Board Certification So Important?
Our pediatric dentists’ continued certification demonstrates their commitment to delivering quality dental care to our patients. In order to
maintain the certification as their professional career advances, they must participate in continuing education along with recertification exams, showing that our pediatric dentists stay on top of the latest dental techniques and technologies. It’s all part of our philosophy of delivering exceptional oral health care throughout the Carolina Coast.
